The monster bash

With over 26 competitors at the MUD Sorcerer War, it was something of a monster bash and an event that will be fondly remembered by all involved as a time to kill, if ever there was one.

It was quiet at the start as everyone found hiding places from which to commute to and from and searched for tools that might assist them, weapons, magical items etc etc etc. After this calm before the storm, bloody warfare of unparalleled vigour ensued; with hacking, slaying and generally slicing each others parts off. Twenty or so deaths later, six sorcerers remained.

Bee sting disaster
One of those was hot favourite VECTIS who managed to go up in experience level from sorcerer to necromancer on the sheer experience of having 5 sorcerer deaths to his name. For a while it looked as though he was going to win but then, having fled from an opponent on very low stamina, he ran into the maze of hedges where he was actually weak enough to die from a single bee sting. A combination of his being in the wrong place at the wrong time, in a moment of vulnerability and with bad luck thrown in for good measure. He died unexpectedly early and is rumoured to have turned in his grave so many times that the local electric company might have been forgiven in attaching a dynamo to his rotting corpse, for good utility reasons.

Suicide slain
Next to die was SUICIDE; a rather strange sorcerer, having spent most of his time hiding in an out of the way place, walking around in circles for a long while and collecting food. He managed to keep a low profile for some time before he was confronted by two sorcerers in quick succession, first WINTERDAWN and then KILLMEKWIK; both of whom he managed to send running. KILLMEKWIK found him later on and killed him with the longsword.

Run away success
FATE was another unusual competitor; having made an art out of running away from WINTERDAWN - and he did a good job too when he pulled the lever at the grotto and went down the chute. WINTERDAWN followed closely behind (in mid air for a short period), before they both ended up in the goblin lair. It was a combination of stubborn goblins, closed doors, and WINTERDAWNs speed that brought this crazy chase to an abrupt end. FATE was the fourth from last to die and there were three remaining; KILLMEKWIK, UNDENYABLE and WINTERDAWN.

Tipped for the top
KILLMEKWIK was a highly experienced competitor and also one who was tipped for success. He was, however, dispatched after fleeing a number of times and having been re-attacked by WINTERDAWN; dying co-incidently in the same area that VECTIS had earlier died. KILLMEKWIK took the third prize of 30 pounds and a MUD coronet.

WINTERDAWN having, by this time killed 5 sorcerers himself, was already a necromancer and was left with only one opponent UNDENYABLE. Who proved no mean task and would have been WINTERDAWNs final conquest were it not for the fact that before he was able to deliver the final blow, UNDENYABLE fired a FOD (finger of death) spell at his opponent which failed and backfired. UNDENYABLE took the second prize of 50 pounds and two MUD icons.

Prize fighter
WINTERDAWN was the victor and sole survivor, taking the first prize of 120 pounds and retaining his war character which, after slaying 5 opponents, had reached necromancer status. A prize fighter if ever there was one.
