Every Thursday at 9PM GMT there will be an event, be it a Mobile Bash, Sorcerer War or Quest!

News

This page is very likely to be filled with tales of woe and bloodshed, death and sad points loss. Sadly, deaths are the easiest things to monitor in Mud2(G), so this will continue to be the case unless YOU mail me with GOOD THINGS that have happened to you (or that you have witnessed).

SUZY and the Newsletter
Suzy the witch is setting up a newsletter for mud2 on Wireplay, which will be posted there for people without internet access, and here for you lot. Wizards and witches arrive en masse
Just after I was reporting Turrican as the first wizard to arrive in ages (well about 4 months anyway), Mathilda, Azzuri, Suzy and Agrazag all bursting with new confidence popped their heads above the parapet and managed the mad scramble across the pk machine-guns to WIZ!

Snypster reports on Mud's party scene
"heh.. I know it's a bit weird... but....

Last Sunday night (4th October) Nighthawk and Softy (as Bigsofty) held a concert. Nighthawk played the guitar. (!) and Softy sang along to old faves such as Bohemian Rhapsody, and the Verve... (Favourites? bloody grebos. Bring on Stardust, Lovestation an Faithless.....) In attendence were myself (Snypster), Karya, Leprechaun, Nighthawk, Bigsofty, Cerberus, Fizzy, an a couple of others. I think. The party was as ever livened up by me handing out free drugs, and spiking everybody's cups of tea. Everyone ended up acting completely stoned. Good Party!

Softy says that he'll hold another in 3 weeks or so... around the 28th, I think.

Another thing that took place on Sunday was a Sorc war, organised by Turrican.
the results were:

  • 1. Aerobie
  • 2. Snafu (Spodulike)
  • 3. Sn1pster. (Snypster)

(sorry Aerobie, I can't remember who ya were... ya were a mage... I remeber that.. it began with S..... Oh well.. someone should remember...) Unfortunately Turrican left before the end, so not only did he miss the result, he couldn't give out any prizes...

    Turrican makes wiz at last!
    Faeries

Turrican became a Wizard yesterday. This is the first one we've had since Lestat. Can anyone remember that far back? Since Turrican said he had made 700,000 points in 11 days (He managed it without ever appearing on the top ten players list) no-one was especially surprised at his arrival except for Turrican himself. Anyone witnessing the vast levels of paranoia exhibited by Turrican will know what I mean:) I'm happy to report he has entirely recovered from it now...ah the complete cure that making wiz has on stressed mages...remarkable. It must be the better quality of air that wizzes breathe, or maybe the sudden immunity from death?

The ending of the mage curfew must mean that the wizzes will be joined by 3 or 4 more very shortly. I look forward to seeing you (shudder).

Has anyone else remarked on the Faeries that occasionally flitter , and dance through the treetops of the Land. Their sheer class and beauty and 'normally' peaceful nature make them a sight not to be missed! Have you ever thought to yourself about where these delicate creatures come from, and what hidden treasure might be found there?

    A poem
    M8

    Why I H8 people who say M8.

    I h8 people who say m8
they think its gr8 to say m8
    but I say w8!

If you met a girl called k8
    over a g8
and asked her on a d8

    and called her m8
    that wouldn't be too gr8
    who wants to m8 with a m8

and you'd never get to meet

    Because saying m8

Two bash failures in a row now
    Houses lose their lustre
    Foddy the arch-wizard
Antman explains why he loves to pk

The bash last Thursday looked like heading for great success. The player-killers were eliminated early on (Thwomp & Antman the mage) by the necromancesses Oblivion and Uniliche and with the last half hour to go there was a pitiful number of mobiles left to slay.

Then for some reason Wdi seemed to try and sabotage the bash. Firstly he burned away the cord, thus discouraging the spider from emerging, and secondly he tried to kill Uniliche, one of the anti-pks mentioned above. Very odd, anyway the bash failed with only the spider remaining to kill.

The total number of people in houses fell away as they suffered from turmoil recently. Bops fell into the hands of Wdi, who promptly ejected 10 or so of the members (on the basis that they might be spies) and then resigned himself, leaving the house in the hands of Vella. Bops later merged with Tusc which leaves the leader of Bops now as Rhye (I think).

The land has been blessed this weekend with a new arch-wiz, Foddy, possibly known to some of you already . Anyway, treat him nicely and confess your crimes without prompting :)

A piece written by Antman the mage (before he died)

"Why did I start PK'ing???? Well I had gone on holiday for two weeks and when I came back the whole way I played failed badly. By the time I had got the kit everything had been done in the way of getting treasure. I had also been getting bored of doing the same thing every reset and then loosing it to a silly death or a flee not that I did them that often (G). So I decided to start PK'ing. On my first day at PK'ing I killed this Warlock I had never seen before later to find out it was another of Topcoats personas. After that I realised it would be impossible to kill without killing my friends. So I thought what the hell I will just kill everyone. I have been PK'ing for one week now and I am totally loving it. There are so many things to do and you are always trying to think of how to kill someone easily. Since becoming a PK I have started to treat it as a game again and so consequently I do not worry as much in battle and hopefully could cope with loosing any of my characters. I think I will do quite well as I have had so much practice fighting PK's who attack me and have sometimes even done a little PK'ing under a different name (G). Well you should be hearing more from me as I have been having a few new ideas on how to kill people and I think one or two will almost definitely work. From

    WDI denies slaying Boggy Shock
    Flick Slays Karya

In fact Wdi seems to know almost as little as me. He says:
'By the way, I wish someone would tell ME why Boggy hasn't been promoted yet - he hasn't even re-joined.'

    Flick Writes:
Just a little thing. I think it was friday night (I'm not too sure)....but I came into the land with about 40 mins of the reset to go. There were 2 warlocks in the land at this time, Karya was one and Achilles was the other. They were both kitted up but had left a few of the wafers lying about the place. I got these pretty fast and worked out that they were planing to stay together to stop me attacking them. In one fast move I nipped in and stole the box which Karya was holding her wafers in. After this I attacked both of them in the graveyard causing the death of Karya and just missing out on the death of Achilles (he fled on 3 stam).

Houses change the face of the land for the better?

There are now 9 Houses in the land, ranging from the mighty BOPS (Brotherhood Of PlayerS) with over 50 members to the defunct MINE with just 1. BOPS has over 50% of the membership, though since a fair few players have availed themselves of the opportunity to join 3 times this is misleading. As was predicted the largest Houses emphasise peaceful co-operation for mutual benefit. They also have a tendency to become cliquey. This is a general remark, and I certainly don't mean that they turn away new members (far from it), merely that those members who derive the most benefit from their House are those who put most effort into running them.

The (numerous) killing Houses have withered away after initial quick growth. This isn't too suprising as a House that permits internal conflict lacks a point, yet killers tend to be people who don't like to restrict their field of available targets.

The most interesting development has been the militancy of BOPS in particular in arranging aggressive self-defence against killers. Bands of hunters can be gathered together and organised much more efficiently than in the past. This has definately cramped the style of lone killers, none of whom have the skill to cope with mass assaults by 5 or 6 in a lynch mob.

Despite numerous successes, the founder of BOPS, BOGGY the mage, was assassinated by someone last week. Boggy told me that he made a mistake with his Flee string and died before he could rectify it. This must have been on one of the rare occasions when BOGGY was unable to call upon other members of BOPS to act as Bodyguards for him, an understandable, though frowned upon practice. (See DEFN BODYGUARD).

WDI the warlock as the senior Captain of BOPS took over as the new leader. I was interested to see that BOGGY has not resumed the leadership of BOPS, nor has he appeared as one of the Captains. This led to speculation that WDI had in fact staged a coup within BOPS, though his friends have denied it. All power corrupts(G).

The House does not seem to have suffered in the short term, though it has suffered a couple of breakaways this week. BOPS has become a victim of its own success, since the number of members make it very difficult to sleep or to concentrate on fighting when everyone is chatting away. I wonder if the Captains will introduce rules to cope with this, or whether BOPS has reached its natural size limit and become more stable.

How Greed got the better of Tobias!

    (By Tobias.)

As I entered the Land as a freshly made warlock, I sensed an unease amongst the mobiles. Quickly consulting the WHO list I noticed a persona unknown to me: Zedd the warlock. I surmised he must be the source of evil that was disturbing the creatures and set about a plan to remove him from the Land, permanently.

Straight away I cast a spell of invisibility to cloak my presence. Searching after some useful implement to do the warlock in, I came across the blade. Suitable enough: it was already covered in blood from a previous sacrifice. I would clearly require sustenance during the fight and attempted to locate some refreshing wafers. Making the appropriate magical gestures, I found that Zedd had as many as were available at that time. An image of a cardboard box appeared in my mind's eye, containing six wafers! It seemed likely this would be a tough battle but one, with a bit of cunning, worth fighting.

As Zedd had attained sufficient experience to reach warlock I imagined he would be constantly on guard against an ambush. I decided to protect myself from the possibility of him detecting my presence by concealing myself in a location that I knew to be proof against mortal magic. On my journey there I cast further spells and noticed he was in the cottage's coal bunker, no doubt fighting the evil rats.

Suddenly, he had gone! Or so I thought. I checked again, this time using the 'where' spell. Hehe, he too had turned invisible and was now heading towards the goblins' lairs. My plan to conceal my presence must have failed, as he now cloaked himself from me! Thinking there was no point in delaying the inevitable, I rushed towards the Cave, ready to pounce. He was in the goblin guard room, a place I would have no problem reaching through the hollowed-out passage behind the portcullis.

Suddenly, in the distance, I heard a bell toll! Checking the obituary list I saw that Zedd had been finished by a goblin guard. What a waste: I had been denied the thrill of the fight! However, wanting to make the best of a bad situation, I realised that the guard that had finished off Zedd would itself be worth a pile of points. I checked whether Zedd had snaffled his wafers in the moments before his death; he hadn't. There were still five remaining in a cardboard box in the guard room. I rushed down the roughly hewn steps and into the place of Zedd's passing, quickly grabbing the box of refreshments before a goblin guard could reach it.

Looking up from the floor, I noticed a evil-looking goblin guard advancing on me angrily. As he only numbered one, I believed I would face no trouble dispatching the fellow to his death. After the first hit against me, I sensed something did not seem right. I valued my goblin opponent's worth, and rather than the usual 24 points, found him to be worth well over 2,500! This must be the fiend who stole my warlock prize! Not only that, but he was armed with the longsword and seemed to be making some use of a CENSORED! During the ensuing fight I munched my way through 5 decent wafers, and wielded my blade, all to little avail. As I swallowed the last little biscuit, my stamina rose to over 90 points, but after one blow from the longsword I was down to 57, after a further blow from the goblin I was on 27 stamina, and decided to flee for my life. As I fled out, I felt a final blow to the back of head, and my existence seize up. I realised that my greed to make the most of Zedd's death had led to my own, as I was faced with the words 'Not updating persona'.
